It took a very special couple to get us to do our very first wedding video (let alone drive to Dubuque, IA for a summer weekend); but we couldn’t say no to our good friend Lindsey Brown Schieffer and her new husband Chris.

The wedding day was full of great visuals (the Field of Dreams, Fringe Salon, the Fenelon Place Elevator, and the Grand River Center on the banks of the Mississippi River) and Chris and Lindsey added many great touches to make it a very memorable day.

We admire companies that make a difference, from showing at-risk high school students that they can be successful, giving kids a place to play, or providing shoes for those who need them. While we don’t know how to make dirty water safe to drink, we do know how to tell engaging stories through beautiful video; and while we hope those videos inspire and motivate their audiences, we know that more direct help is needed, sometimes.

Once we developed a viable business model and began adding to our client roster, we knew it was time to revisit our social mission.

Today, we’re proud to announce “5 to the Good.” For every job we complete for a non-profit client, we commit to donating 5% of operating profit and owner compensation back to that organization. When we do work for corporate clients, that 5% will go to one of two charities that are close to our heart – Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) and the Minnesota Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Center.

“5 to the Good” is a philosophy we’ve implemented here at 651media for the past couple of years. Today, we’re finally putting a name to it. We look forward to updating “5 to the Good” in the future – we’d love for the program to be more substantial at some point – but for now, we think this is a good place to start and hope you’ll agree.
