By now, we all understand the value of content marketing, right? Write a good blog post (filled with linkbait), publish a whitepaper, tweet up a storm, establish credibility, etc.
At 651media World Headquarters (dun, dun, duuuunnnnn) we’ve totally bought into the principles of content marketing, even if we struggle (like you do) to execute consistently and effectively.
The trick to content marketing is to make your content so compelling, so expert, so moving that a prospect decides to start a relationship with you. That’s difficult. Really difficult. How do you spend your precious marketing resources in a way that gives you the most bang for your buck?
Well, imagine how giddy we were at HQ when our colleague, John Lawlor (@johntlawlor) of The Lawlor Group directed our attention to this piece, entitled, “Photos and video drive the most engagement on social media.”
Now, there’s all kinds of juicy stuff in that infographic (speaking of linkbait…) but the one that stood out to us was this:
Folks, there’s a reason the word “show” comes first in “show and tell.” If you’re trying to allocate limited marketing dollars to efforts that get the best ROI, we think you should start with video. Your blog posts, tweets, whitepapers, etc. are great. But if you want virality and engagement, there’s no better way to get it than by using video.
